Happy New Year! Reflecting on MOAMG’s first year of blogging

Our favourite bridge – Tower Bridge all lit up

2012 has been an amazing year for London – the Jubilee, the Olympics and Paralympics, the opening of The Shard… While 2013 doesn’t have quite the same once-in-a-lifetime events scheduled, who knows what will happen!

Memoirs Of A Metro Girl was ‘born’ in May 2012. After thinking about starting a blog on and off for years, I finally took the plunge in the weeks leading up to the Queen’s Jubilee as there was so much buzz in the capital. I am so proud to be a Londoner and have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge of the capital with visiting friends and family from abroad.

As the blog grew in visitors, I was constantly seeking out new things to write about. The good thing about having a blog is it spurs you to make the most of London, instead of perhaps being lazy and think you’ll do it another day (I have been guilty of that!). As a Londoner, you can often take the city’s sights for granted because they’ll always be there.

So in eight months of blogging, I’ve posted on a range of subjects, including history, architecture, events, festivals and travel which has attracted very different visitors. In 2013, I hope to continue the way I go on, covering events and finding parts of secret London and continuing to grow the blog’s audience.

I would like to thank all the readers and Twitter/Facebook followers for their continued support of the blog and also ask to help spread the word to your friends and family if you like what you read.

Happy New Year for 2013!
