The Christmas arches in South Molton Street
If Christmas didn’t take place in December, it would be a pretty dull month. Although we’re adjusting to the change in temperature and the dark nights, the festive season means the city is transformed into an extravaganza of neon, glitter and lights. I always love checking out the capital’s Christmas lights. When I was a kid growing up in the 1980s, my dad used to actually drive the car down Oxford Street and Regent Street so I could see them. Given the state of modern traffic and the sheer volume of buses on Oxford Street today, that would be a bad idea in London 2018! The rising popularity of Instagram has certainly encouraged London’s businesses to up their game when it comes to festive decorations.
Here’s a gallery of just some of the capital’s Christmas lights.
