A look at The Mall on the eve of King Charles III’s coronation.
On the day before King Charles III’s coronation, I headed to Westminster to check out the preparations and soak up some of the atmosphere ahead of the big event. Although I wouldn’t call myself a royalist, I wanted to witness some of the build-up to the major, historical event. In typical British fashion, the weather was pretty atrocious, with a couple of rain and thunderstorms during my visit. However, the downpours didn’t dampen the mood as I passed dozens of ardent royalists who had braved the elements camping out on The Mall for a front row seat at the main event on May 6th. While the Union Jacks were obviously a dominant theme, there were also plenty of flags from the Commonwealth and beyond, with a significant amount of visitors from Canada and the U.S.A.
Here’s some photos of the atmosphere in The Mall leading up to the Coronation.
