Summer is here! June is a bumper month for events – many of them free – along with the return of some high-profile festivals, such as Sundance Film Festival and the Pride Parade.

There will be lots of neighbourhood community events, including the Wandsworth Arts Fringe, Hampstead Summer Festival, the Lambeth Country Show and Bankside Open Spaces.

Here’s a guide to special events, festivals and exhibitions on in London this month, including ticket prices, opening times and transport details.

  • 30 May – 1 June 2024 : Capital Crime Festival 2024

Crime and thriller book festival featuring over 100 authors and specialists. Tickets: Day-Weekend passes £75-£185, individual event tickets also available.   • 1 – 30 June 2024 : London Festival of Architecture 2024

The month-long celebration of architecture returns for its 20th year. Featuring talks, installations, tours, exhibitions, open studios, film screenings, debate, conferences and more. At various venues around town. For more information, visit the London Festival of Architecture website.

  • 6 – 9 June 2024 : Sundance Film Festival London 2024

  • 6 – 19 June 2024 : Aperol Spritz ‘Aperidisco’ Bar

Pop-up bar from the Italian aperitif favourite, featuring DJ takeovers, karaoke, workshops, tasty bites, disco brunches, disco yoga, and customised merch. Opening hours TBC. Free entry.   • 7 – 9 June 2024 : Polo in the Park 2024

Bringing polo from the country estates into London. As well as watching the polo, there is plenty of entertainment and food and drink. Featuring the Fulham Food Festival, Fever Tree Garden, Mahiki pop-up, Pimm’s bus, Champagne Lanson Fruit Market, live music and DJs, shopping and kids’ activities. Open from 12pm.   • 7 – 23 June 2024 : Wandsworth Art Fringe 2024

Two week fringe festival in the borough of Wandsworth featuring over 130 events, including theatre, dance, art, music, comedy, poetry, workshops, talks, markets and more.   • 7 June – 26 July 2024 : Zoo Nights @ London Zoo

London Zoo are hosting late summer evening openings for adults-only on Fridays throughout June and July. As well as checking out the animals, you can follow a trail, listen to music, enjoy a drink and feast at the world food market. 6pm-10pm. Tickets: £21.50.   • 7 June – 27 October 2024 : Serpentine Pavilion 2024

Visit the temporary structure in the grounds of the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens. This year’s 23rd Pavilion is designed by Minsuk Cho. Open during park hours. Nine-day community arts festival returns in-person to south-east London, featuring live music, dance, craft markets, poetry, art installations, film screenings, workshops, talks, interactive games and more.   • 8 June 2024 : Bankside Open Spaces 2024

Community festival in the Thameside neighbourhood featuring live music, dog show, stalls, street food, walking tours, dance, DJs, sport, kids’ sports, and local performers. 12pm-9pm. Free.   • 8 June 2024 : Highgate Fair in the Square

  • 8 – 9 June 2024 : Lambeth Country Show 2024

Annual extravaganza of entertainment, food, drink, farm life, fun fair rides, general revelry and live music returns to Brockwell Park in Herne Hill. From 1pm-9pm. Free entry. Brockwell Park (Entrances near Norwood Road/Herne Hill junction or Dulwich Road), Herne Hill, SE24. Nearest station: Herne Hill (9 minutes from Victoria) or a 15 minute walk from Brixton tube.   • 8 – 9 June 2024 : London Square Open Gardens Weekend

Two day event where over 100 private squares and community squares that are normally off-limits to the public open their doors.   • 8 – 16 June 2024 : Camberwell Arts Festival

Nine day festival celebrating the arts and creative talent of Camberwell. Featuring exhibitions, open studios, interactive evensong, comedy, blues party, summer fair, guided walks and much more.   • 8 June – 14 July 2024 : Summer in Battersea Park 2024

Series of weekend events taking place in Battersea Park including KERB street food market, live music, family shows and workshops, Wandsworth Family Pride, Wandsworth Armed Forces Day, Battersea Dog Show, as well as screenings of the Wimbledon and EURO 2024 screenings.   • 9 June 2024 : Hello Summer @ Wembley Park

A family event in partnership with Busk in London and Annie’s Kids Club. Featuring summer craft activities and workshops, face-painting, balloon modelling, street games, live entertainment and more.   • 10 June – 7 July 2024 : Art in Mayfair

Month-long art events will see some of Mayfair’s top brands team up with artists and galleries to present pop-up installations, talks, walks and special events.   • 11 June – TBA 2024 : Proud West End

Audio-visual art exhibition of living portraits spotlighting the stories of the capital’s LGBTQ+ community. Visitors can hear and watch the stories by scanning QR codes accompanying each portrait.   • 12 – 16 June 2024 : Taste of London 2024

The hugely popular food festival returns to Regent’s Park. As well as a host of different cuisines to try, there’s also the chance to attend workshops and talks. Pop-up restaurants include Ruya, Faber, Rondo, Angelina, Burger & Lobster, Bibo, Oblix, Circolo Popolare, Rhythm Kitchen, Bone Daddies, Roti King, Hotbox London and more. Tickets from £28. Explore a new way to engage with art in an immersive, multi-sensory experience.
